What happens if I need to cancel care?

We know plans change — you can cancel anytime in the app by going to ‘Bookings,’ selecting your booking, and tapping ‘Cancel Booking.’ The person assigned to care will be notified automatically.

What happens next depends on the type of care.

For care with your personal uploaded providers:

Cancel before the booking start time to ensure your benefit hours are returned and no payment is processed. There are no cancellation fees.

For care with an assigned Helpr Network sitter:

A cancellation fee applies if:

  • You cancel less than 24 hours before the booking start time, and
  • It’s been more than 2 hours since your sitter accepted

The cancellation fee is equivalent to 4 hours of care — charged at your Helpr Network copay rate and deducted from your benefit hours.

There’s no cancellation fee if:

  • You cancel more than 24 hours before the booking start time,
  • You cancel within 2 hours of your sitter accepting, or
  • A sitter was never assigned

The cancellation fee goes directly toward paying your assigned sitter for their time and commitment to care. This policy also helps us retain top sitters in our Helpr Network.
